Summer is a magical time of year. You’ve got all the time in the world to do absolutely nothing except lay on the beach, eat ice cream and spend time with your favourite people. The best part of our summer is our annual extended visit at Nannie and Grampy’s, where the children are completely spoiled and memories of my own childhood are magically brought to life. My children love all the simple things I did as a little one- picking blueberries, rolling down the hill, collecting rocks on the beach. My worries about too much TV and their love of the iPad get washed away with their big smiles showing me the latest grasshopper they’ve captured.

So, as the temperature changes, school starts and all the fun from the summer fades to wonderful memories, I can’t help but indulge myself with daily strolls through the collection of photos we took. From jumping in the lake to riding the tractor with Grampy, I can never pick my favourite.

This year, rather than just let the photos sit on my hard drive, I made a collection of personalised cards for our family and friends. It’s hard being so far from home but sending these little notes, celebrating time together, helps to remind everyone that the next visit is never that far away and that, like this year, we will be sure to enjoy every minute.
